LAHORE: The 63rd Allied Bank National Open Polo Championship for the Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup has officially commenced at the Lahore Polo Club, reaffirming its status as Pakistan’s premier 14-goal tournament on the Pakistan Polo Association (PPA) calendar.
Sponsored by Allied Bank Limited (ABL), the event brings together three elite teams, each strengthened by two foreign professionals and overseen by international umpires, ensuring the highest standards of competition.
The opening match saw Master Paints/Diamond Paints defeat BN Polo by a score of 12-9. From the very first chukker, Master Paints/Diamond Paints established control, maintaining their lead consistently until the fifth and final chukker. Iranian player Amirreza Behboudi was the standout performer with six goals, while Facundo Retamar added five and Sufi Muhammad Haroon bin Haris chipped in with one. For BN Polo, Lao Abbi Landa scored five goals, Tito Ruiz Guinazu contributed three, and Ibrahim Khalil added one.
