PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Monday directed all relevant officials to ensure the protection of the life and property of the public, emphasizing that any lapse or negligence would be unacceptable.
He issued the directives while chairing a meeting to review the overall law and order situation in the province. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah, Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed, additional chief secretary Home, additional inspector general counter Terrorism Department, and additional inspector general Special Branch.
The meeting undertook a comprehensive review of the prevailing security environment, counterterrorism measures, and arrangements for the protection of citizens’ lives and property.
The chief minister instructed that comprehensive and well-coordinated security arrangements be put in place for prayers and religious gatherings during the holy month of Ramazan.
Highlighting the role of the police in maintaining public safety, the chief minister stated that the police force remains at the forefront of the province’s counterterrorism efforts and reaffirmed the provincial government’s continued and unwavering support to the force.
He emphasized that all required resources would be provided to the police on a priority basis to further strengthen operational capacity.
The chief minister directed the authorities concerned to operate under a clearly defined and results oriented security strategy, ensuring the optimal and efficient utilization of available resources.
He stressed that all relevant institutions must remain vigilant and maintain a high state of operational preparedness to respond effectively to any untoward incident.
