Laughter echoed through the aisles of a bustling departmental store in Korangi as 200 orphaned children, many clutching new clothes and shoes for the first time in months, prepared to celebrate Eidul Fitr with dignity and delight.

The heart-warming shopping trip was organised by the Green Crescent Trust (GCT), which spent approximately Rs 1.573 million in a single session to ensure that children from its charitable schools could mark the festive occasion in a befitting manner

The trust plans to hold 20 such shopping sessions across Sindh for a total of 2,343 orphaned students enrolled in 175 schools. In all, Rs18.427 million has been allocated for the Eid shopping programm, made possible through the generosity of patrons and donors.

GCT Chief Executive Officer Zahid Saeed expressed heartfelt gratitude to the philanthropists whose consistent backing sustains the organisation’s work. He noted that the same committed donors enabled the trust to operate a network of charitable schools in rural and deprived parts of Sindh, currently serving 38,800 students from impoverished families. Looking ahead, he shared the trust’s ambition to expand beyond Sindh by establishing charitable schools in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa within the current year.
