LAHORE : Investigation Police have arrested six suspects, including a woman, allegedly involved in a gunpoint robbery at a private university in the Data Darbar area.
According to a police spokesperson, following the incident in which CPUs and LED screens worth millions of rupees were taken from the university at gunpoint, the DIG Investigation took notice and constituted a team to arrest the suspects and recover the stolen property.
The spokesperson said that during a major operation conducted on Friday, the investigation team arrested the accused and recovered 79 CPUs and 20 LED screens belonging to the private university. Police also recovered two Honda 125 motorcycles and illegal weapons from their possession.
Police stated that the main suspect was a former security guard of the private university. The accused allegedly entered the university premises by scaling a wall at night, held security guards hostage at gunpoint, and loaded 79 CPUs and 20 LED screens from the university’s storeroom onto rickshaws before fleeing.
The suspects were arrested with the help of modern technology and human intelligence, police said.
Citizens deprived of valuables
Citizens were deprived of cash, mobile phones and other valuables in separate robbery incidents across the city. Vehicles and motorcycles were also reported stolen from different areas.
Snatcher arrested
Race Course Police arrested alleged snatcher Shehzad Khan using CCTV footage. Police recovered a stolen motorcycle, mobile phones and a pistol. A case has been registered.
Dolphin
squad crackdown
The Dolphin Squad recovered 47 stolen and fake-number-plate motorcycles during a 48-hour operation. Police returned several motorcycles to owners and initiated legal action in other cases.
Man injured
in firing incident
A man identified as Shaban was injured in a firing incident linked to an old enmity. Police arrested the main suspect and registered a case.
Torture case
Police arrested 12 suspects for allegedly tying and torturing two men in Shadbagh. Further investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, Police held a meeting with rickshaw union representatives to discuss security and urged them to report suspicious activity.
