LAHORE : In a major development, Punjab Sports Department is taking a revolutionary measure to transform its working as per modern day requirements. In this regard, the process uploading the data of all athletes online has been started for the first time in the history of Punjab. Besides this, all sports facilities including stadiums, sports complexes and sports venues are also being brought online. Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab M Ali shared this information while presiding over an important meeting at the Punjab Stadium.
Additional Secretary Sports Shabbir Hussain Cheema and Director Sports Rana Nadeem Anjum attended the meeting in person while all Divisional Sports Officers of Punjab participated in the meeting through video link. All the Divisional Sports Officers gave a detailed briefing regarding the upcoming sports events. PITB officers also gave a briefing about sports facilities and online registration of players’ data in the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab directed the officers concerned to conduct events at the E-Libraries every month for the youth. “A chess event is also being organized soon. Besides this, the sports events are also being organized in all divisions of the province”. He said that the sports facilities will now be available to every citizen of the province. “Punjab Sports Department is taking effective steps for the development of sports culture across the province”.
He said that Punjab Sports Department is going to organize a large-scale Family Fun Race in Punjab after Eid in which more than 10 thousand athletes and citizens are expected to participate.
