LAHORE : Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said that historic and fundamental steps are being taken in the health sector under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz.
Under the Chief Minister’s Adult Cardiac Surgery Programme, free treatment facilities worth more than Rs 3 billion will be provided to heart disease patients annually. All permanent residents of Punjab will be included in this Programme as per NADRA records. Under this Programme, government cardiac institutions are also being upgraded. Private cardiac institutions will also be included in this Programme.
He share this information while addressing an important meeting at the Punjab Health Initiative Management Company regarding the Chief Minister’s Adult Cardiac Surgery Programme on Saturday.
Secretary Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department Azmat Mahmood attended the meeting through video link. CEO Punjab Health Initiative Management Company Dr. Ali Razaq, CEO Punjab Institute of Cardiology Lahore Prof Bilal Mohiuddin were present in the meeting.
Officials of Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology, Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology, Wazirabad Institute of Cardiology, Multan Institute of Cardiology and other cardiac institutions participated through video link.
After this programme, the waiting list for adult cardiac surgeries will be significantly reduced. All types of heart operations (adult cardiac surgery) procedures have been included in this Programme. Government cardiac institutions will be the primary registration and treatment centers.
Referral to private hospitals will be done only through the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT). Annual coverage per patient will be Rs1 million. A reserve fund will be allocated for such patients whose prescribed package ends during treatment or whose complex cases exceed the limits of the standard package. Efforts are being made to provide the best health facilities to the people. All resources are being utilized to provide the best health facilities to the people of Punjab.
Secretary Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department Azmat Mahmood has said on this occasion that an IT-based dashboard will be created for the success of the Chief Minister’s Adult Cardiac Surgery Programme. This Programme will save thousands of human lives.
Meanwhile, Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique attended the ceremony of distributing laptops to students under the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme at King Edward Medical University as the chief guest.
Laptops were distributed to 259 talented students of King Edward Medical University. Coordinator Prime Minister Youth Programme Fahad Shahbaz, Vice Chancellor KEMU Prof Mahmood Ayaz, senior faculty and a large number of students attended the ceremony. Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique, while expressing his views, said that this ancient medical institution has produced generations of doctors and medical experts who have served not only Punjab but the whole of Pakistan with dedication, dedication and expertise.
He said that Pakistan’s victory is not digestible. “We have to work hard for our country. We gave shelter to Afghans in Pakistan. We have to unite and strengthen Pakistan”.
He said this programme reflects our firm commitment to education and youth empowerment. He said that in today’s digital world, access to technology has become indispensable for educational success. This initiative shows our commitment to promote merit and transparency, eliminate the digital divide and invest in Pakistan’s future leaders.
He said the Punjab government has initiated major initiatives in the health sector. These historic programmes include pediatric heart surgery, kidney and liver transplants, bone marrow transplants, cochlear and cornea transplants, cancer treatment, cardiac surgery, stroke treatment and neurology services for children and adults. Hospitals across Punjab are being upgraded where better facilities for dialysis and stroke treatment are being provided. A modern cancer hospital is being built in Lahore while new children’s hospitals are under construction in Rawalpindi and Bahawalpur. Cardiac institutes are being expanded in various cities and burn units have been established in various areas.
Khawaja Salman said that a comprehensive ‘Nawaz Sharif Medical District’ is also being developed in Lahore, which includes Children’s Hospital II, Institute of Pediatric and Adult Genetic Blood Diseases, Institute of Special Orthopaedics, Medical Rehabilitation Centre and Centre of Excellence for Nursing Education. The Punjab government’s Revamping project of Mayo Hospital Lahore, which costs about four (4) billion rupees. The project includes comprehensive upgradation and new construction of various floors, and the government has also cleared the outstanding dues of the hospital.
