LAHORE : Deputy Commissioner Lahore Capt (retd) M Ali Ijaz directed the administration to further intensify its campaign against overcharging and the sale of substandard items.
In this connection, acting on the special directions of DC Lahore, Assistant Commissioner Raiwind Dr Abid Mumtaz Khan Siyal paid a detailed visit to Bedian Road and minutely inspected various supermarts including meat shops. During the visit, AC Raiwind checked the quality and availability of items at DC counters and the presence of official rate lists.
Taking strict action upon finding evidence of failure to display rate lists and the sale of substandard items at several locations, collective fines of 25,000 rupees were imposed.
On this occasion, DC Lahore gave a clear message that indiscriminate action will continue against those exploiting citizens through overcharging and the sale of substandard items, and no leniency will be shown in this matter.
He further added that the field staff of the District Administration Lahore is monitoring markets on a daily basis to provide relief to the public.
