ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday again suspended the victory notification of PPP’s Ali Hassan Zehri, who contested the Balochistan Assembly PB-21 Hub constituency in the February 8 general elections.
A notification issued by the Election Commission says, “pursuant to the order passed by the Islamabad High Court, Islamabad dated 26th February, 2026, in Writ Petition No. 1014/2026 titled “Muhammad Saleh Bhootani Vs Chief Election Commission and others”, the Notifications No.F.2(12) /2024-Coord. Vol-VIII(1) and No.F.2(12)/2024-Coord. Vol-VIII(2) dated 26th February 2026, whereby Ali Hassan Zehri was declared returned candidate from PB-21 Hub, are hereby suspended, till further orders”.
The development has come a day after the commission restored the notification of victory of Zehri of PPP after the recount of votes in 39 polling stations of PB-21, Hub, in December 2024.
Bhootani, who had emerged winner from this constituency in the February 8 general elections but after the recount carried out on the plea of Zehri, about two months later, was brought down to No 3 and PPP candidate was put on the top, who was originally at No 3.
