QUETTA: The Home Department, Balochistan has imposed an immediate and complete ban on the use, possession, and operation of drones, UAVs, quadcopters, camcopters, and other remote-controlled aerial devices throughout the province.

According to a notification from the Home Department, the decision was made due to concerns over surveillance, espionage, the transportation of prohibited items and explosives, the spreading of fear, and the disruption of law and order. The move was necessary to ensure public safety, protect sensitive and important installations, safeguard public gatherings, and secure the movement of key individuals and convoys.

The Additional Chief Secretary (Home) invoked powers under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, 1898, to enforce the ban, which is effective immediately and will remain in place until further notice.

Police and the Frontier Corps have been instructed to strictly implement the ban, and violators will face legal action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code and other relevant laws. Deputy Commissioners have also been directed to submit daily compliance reports to the Home Department. The notification further stated that authorised police, FC, and other law enforcement agencies are exempt from this ban.
