Partnerships with Chinese varsities stressed

PESHAWAR: The speakers at a seminar on Friday highlighted the enduring and strategic partnership between Pakistan and China, making a call for structured linkages with Chinese universities to deepen academic collaboration.

The seminar was hosted by China Window at the Institute of Management Sciences (IMSciences) to mark the 75th anniversary of Pakistan-China diplomatic relations.Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Secretary for Higher Education, Muhammad Israr, was the chief guest.

In his keynote address, he described Pak-China friendship as “unparalleled and time-tested,” emphasizing China’s vital role in Pakistan’s economic transformation.The secretary particularly referred to the Mohmand Dam project, noting that its completion would usher in a new era of prosperity in the region.

“The dam, constructed with Chinese cooperation, will not only contribute to energy production but will also help resolve Peshawar’s drinking water shortage,” he stated.Muhammad Israr stressed that while government-level cooperation between the two countries remains strong, educational institutions in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa must now build structured partnerships with leading Chinese universities to deepen academic collaboration. He congratulated the people of China on the occasion of the Diamond Jubilee of bilateral ties and the Chinese New Year.

Dr Zarmina Baloch underscored that Pakistan-China relations are a pillar of Pakistan’s foreign policy and a symbol of trust and strategic partnership, playing a crucial role in regional political and economic stability.
