ISLAMABAD: After approval from the president, the federal government has appointed retired bureaucrat Naveed Kamran Baloch as Federal Ombudsman for a term of four years.

Former Secretary of National Food Security Division Captain (retd) Muhammad Asif, who had been suspended two years ago in connection with wheat import scandal during caretaker government, has been reinstated. The Establishment Division has issued a notification restoring Muhammad Asif, a Grade-21 officer of Pakistan Administrative Service. He had been suspended in May 2024 and has now been reinstated after being cleared in the inquiry.

The prime minister has approved request for early retirement of Ghulam Mujtaba Joyo, Joint Secretary of Poverty Alleviation Division. A Grade-20 officer of Secretariat Group, he is set to retire on April 1, 2026. The additional charge of Chairman Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI), assigned to Deputy Director General Javed Ahmed Sheikh, has been extended for a further three months or until appointment of a permanent officer (whichever occurs earlier). The extension is effective from January 30, 2026.

Meanwhile, services of Anam Gulraiz, a Grade-18 officer of Office Management Group posted at Civil Services Academy Lahore, have been returned to Establishment Division. The deputation of Police Service Grade-18 officer Aretza Komail, posted to Pakistan Cricket Board, has been extended for one year from February 28.
