ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Tuesday reserved its judgment in a case concerning the alleged dubious recount of votes in PB-21, Hub, Balochistan.

Senior lawyers appeared before the bench from both sides. Muhammad Saleh Bhootani and Ali Hassan Zehri represented the BAP and PPP, respectively. They presented detailed arguments after which the forum reserved its verdict.

In the revised cause list, the commission had dropped the hearing of statement of assets case against the KP ex-chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur a day earlier, to give maximum time to this unique case, which emerged from the February 8, 2024 general election.

The recount had seen the winner (Saleh), going down to the third position and the candidate (Zehri) standing third, according to the returning officer’s compiled unofficial results, came to the top and subsequently became an MPA and then a minister.
