PTI Secretary General Barrister Salman Akram Raja, Leader of Opposition in Senate Allama Nasir Abbass, Aamir Dogar, Shafi Jan, Muhammad Hussain and Shahid Khattak staged a protest demonstration outside the Supreme Court.
They were carrying posters and banners inscribed with these demands. They demanded that pending cases related to the incarcerated PTI founder should be fixed for early hearing in courts besides his relatives should be allowed to meet him in jail. They also demanded that PTI founder’s medical examination should be conducted through his personal doctors.
They pledged that their protest will continue at every forum till the fulfillment of all their demands, adding that the Supreme Court should take notice of the matter and protect the basic fundamental rights of the PTI founder.
Meanwhile, talking to media PTI’s central leadership said that the party acknowledges the sacrifices of Pakistan’s armed forces and stands with the families of the martyrs, saying that the nation owes a debt to those who shed their blood for the country.
PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja, Members of the National Assembly Ali Muhammad Khan and Shahid Khattak expressed serious concern over the health of party’s founding chairman, Imran Khan demanding that he be immediately shifted to Shifa International Hospital for medical treatment and be allowed access to his personal physician and family.
Salman Akram Raja expressed reservations about Imran Khan’s medical reports, stating that there are two separate reports—one by Salman Safdar and another official one—and that they do not trust any government-issued report.
He emphasised that not only Khan’s eye but his entire body should undergo a comprehensive medical examination. He added that an attempt was made to meet the chief justice, which was unsuccessful for now, but they would try again. He announced that the PTI would continue knocking on the doors of law and would register strong protest during the joint session of Parliament.
PTI leaders stated that they would repeatedly approach the Supreme Court to ensure the protection of the founding chairman’s life and would continue reminding the court of its responsibilities.
Speaking on the occasion, Ali Muhammad Khan said that a nation sees its future through the eyes of its leader. He noted that the founding chairman is the person who established a cancer hospital providing free treatment to millions, but today he himself is in need of medical care.
He demanded that Khan be immediately taken to hospital for treatment of his eye. Similarly, Shahid Khattak criticised the government, saying that it has turned the treatment of the PTI founder into a matter of ego, which he described as sheer cruelty. He added that Bushra Bibi is imprisoned in political cases and should be granted relief. He said the government cannot impose conditions on Khan’s family and demanded that Dr. Uzma and Dr. Burki be allowed to meet him.
