A fire broke out at a private textile factory near Norus Chowrangi in the SITE neighbourhood, spreading rapidly due to the presence of large quantities of plastic pellets and foam.
According to a fire brigade spokesperson, the factory manufactured water coolers, plastic utensils, and plastic pellets. The blaze intensified quickly; however, the prompt response of firefighters prevented any loss of human life.
Initially, one fire tender was dispatched to the scene, followed by additional reinforcements. In total, four fire tenders and one blower were engaged in extinguishing the flames. Chief Fire Officer Humayun Khan said the fire was brought under control after nearly an hour of firefighting efforts, followed by another hour of cooling operations.
Police, Rangers, and rescue teams were also present at the scene to assist in the operation and maintain order. Meanwhile, representatives of K-Electric confirmed that electricity to the affected area was immediately suspended as a precautionary measure and was restored only after the fire had been completely extinguished.
No casualties were reported, while the extent of financial losses was yet to be assessed. Fire officials said initial observations suggested the blaze might have been caused by negligence, though an electrical short circuit had not been ruled out pending a detailed technical investigation.
