Islamabad:Ambassador of Hungary Dr. Zoltan Varga called on chairman of the Higher Education Commission Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar at the HEC Secretariat here Monday to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in higher education and academic exchanges.
The chairman welcomed the government of Hungary’s offer of up to 400 fully-funded scholarships annually for Pakistani students at Bachelors, Masters and PhD levels and noted that those Hungarian scholarships presented a significant opportunity for talented students across Pakistan.
He also highlighted the successful resolution of the longstanding recognition issue for Hungarian engineering degrees by the Pakistan Engineering Council, a development that will directly benefit Pakistani engineering graduates and facilitate further academic collaboration.

He added that the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference was actively working with Pakistan’s Vice Chancellors’ Forum to strengthen institutional linkages and enable more direct university-to-university cooperation.
