After enduring years of power shortages and loadshedding, the nation finally found hope in alternative energy, particularly solar power. With government encouragement and supportive policies, solar panels have become a common sight on rooftops, industrial units and commercial centres across the country. This shift has not only helped reduce the electricity shortfall but also strengthened business activity, employment opportunities and the national economy. However, the recent shift by the power authorities towards a new billing formula has triggered serious concern among solar consumers. It is feared that the revised structure will significantly reduce the financial savings that justified the substantial investments in solar. Discouraging solar adoption at this stage could slow the progress of green energy and risk a return to energy shortages. I respectfully urge the government to listen to the concerns of solar users and adopt a balanced approach that benefits consumers, industry and the national economy alike. Those who invested their life savings to secure reliable energy should not be deprived of its benefits.
