LAHORE : The Department of Public Health at University of the Punjab organised an “Anemia Free Booth” in collaboration with Allah Walay Trust and the Nutrition & Wellbeing Society to raise awareness about iron deficiency anemia among students.
Prof Dr Rubina Zakar and In-charge Dr Nauman Ali Chaudhry, along with faculty members and students, attended the event. They highlighted the need to promote preventive health practices and envisioned an anemia free student community, with active participation of BS Nutrition and Dietetics students.
Zoha Aslam, coordinator of the Nutrition Department at Allah Walay Trust, conducted an interactive session on the causes, symptoms and long term effects of iron deficiency anemia, particularly among young women.
A free screening camp was also arranged, where students underwent hemoglobin tests and received brief counselling and dietary guidance focusing on iron rich foods and preventive measures.
