Foundation stone of Maryam Nawaz Health Centre laid

LAHORE : Provincial Health Ministers Khawaja Salman Rafique and Khawaja Imran Nazir formally laid the foundation stone of the revamping project of Maryam Nawaz Mother and Child Health Centre at Joray Pull on Saturday.

The aim of this important project is to ensure the provision of modern and quality medical facilities to women and children in the area and to further strengthen the health infrastructure. A large number of people of the area, including former MPA Waheed Gul attended the foundation stone laying ceremony and termed the launch of the project as auspicious for the area.

The participants appreciated the practical steps and public welfare projects of the Punjab government in the health sector.

Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique, speaking on the occasion said that maternal and child health is the top priority of the government and for this purpose, old health Centres are being revamped according to modern requirements. After upgrading, this Centre at Joray Pull will be equipped with modern machinery, trained staff and better facilities so that the local population does not have to go to distant areas for treatment.

Khawaja Salman said that as per the vision of CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz, comprehensive steps are being taken for the improvement of basic health centres and mother and child centres across the province. The completion of this project will not only reduce the maternal and child mortality rate but also bring health services to the doorsteps of the common citizen.

The provincial ministers reiterated their commitment that timely completion of development projects will be ensured and transparent, quality and dignified medical facilities will be provided to the people. The people of the area appreciated this initiative and thanked the government and expressed hope for the early completion of the project.

Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir, while expressing his views, said that the construction of Maryam Nawaz Maternal and Child Health Centre equipped with modern facilities to be completed within the stipulated time frame. Maternal and child health is the top priority. The new centre will provide the best treatment facilities to mothers and children. The government is taking serious steps to reduce maternal and child mortality.

Khawaja Imran Nazir said that expert gynecologists, pediatricians and trained staff will be deployed in the centre quality medical facilities will be provided to mothers and newborns under one roof. Provision of equal medical facilities to rural and urban population is being ensured. He said that the health system is being further strengthened on the instructions of CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz.
