The Karachi administration’s crackdown against overpricing continued on the third day of the holy month of Ramazan, with fines exceeding Rs2.6 million imposed on shopkeepers for violating official prices.

According to deputy commissioners’ reports, officials checked prices at 768 locations and issued warnings at 129 places. On the directives of Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi, assistant commissioners auctioned fruits and other items at official rates.

Auctions were held for wheat flour, sugar, chicken, vegetables, beef, bananas, guavas, oranges, watermelon, and strawberries. On the directives of the commissioner, all deputy commissioners, assistant commissioners, and monitoring teams remained in the field.
