LAHORE: The Punjab Home Department has issued a list of proscribed organisations and unregistered charitable entities, urging citizens not to provide them with any form of financial assistance.
According to a spokesperson for the Punjab Home Department, providing support to banned organisations under the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997 is a criminal offence. Citizens have been advised not to donate Zakat, charity or any other form of contributions to unregistered or proscribed organisations.
The department clarified that individuals found assisting organisations involved in terrorism or anti-state activities will face legal action. It further stated that all charitable organisations operating in Punjab are required to be registered with the Punjab Charity Commission. Citizens have been urged to ensure that their donations are given only to organisations registered with the commission.
The spokesperson said verification of registered organisations can be carried out through the QR code printed on their registration certificates. Citizens have been advised to ensure that their contributions reach genuine beneficiaries rather than banned groups.
The list of proscribed organisations includes groups such as Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Sipah-e-Mohammed Pakistan, Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan, Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, al-Qaeda, Balochistan Liberation Army, Balochistan Liberation Front, Islamic State, Jamaat-ud-Dawa, and Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan, among dozens of others.
The spokesperson added that the complete list of proscribed organisations is available on the official websites of Punjab Home Department and National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA).
Citizens have been asked to report any instances of fundraising by banned organisations to the Punjab Home Department.
Information can be shared via the toll-free number 0800-11111 or the helpline 042-99213871. For verification of registered charities, citizens may send a message 24/7 to the Punjab Charity Commission’s WhatsApp number 0313-4995564.
