SUKKUR: A woman and her infant son died in a fire under mysterious circumstances near Pano Aqil in the Sukkur district.
Reports indicate that 35-year-old Ms Ikhtiaran and her 15-month-old son, Salam, perished in the incident that occurred in Ghurio Indhar village.
Police have confirmed the deaths of the woman and her child. Officials claimed that the mother set herself and her son on fire. Both were immediately rushed to the Ghulam Muhammad Mahar Medical College Hospital in Khairpur, where they were pronounced dead by medical staff.
Police claimed the woman committed suicide following alleged cruelty by her husband. An investigation into the incident is currently underway. The tragic incident has sparked speculation and concern among local residents.
