KPITB enlists digital journey in province

PESHAWAR: The year 2025 marked a defining chapter in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa digital journey, making digital governance operational, visible and impactful besides building an administrative system that is faster, transparent and citizen centric.

“The progress achieved during last year demonstrates how technology, when aligned with reform and execution, can fundamentally improve governance,” said Dr Akif Khan, Managing Director of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB) while talking to reporters.

“KPITB’s work reflects a decisive shift from fragmented systems to integrated digital platforms that enhance efficiency, accountability and service delivery across the province”, he added. Sharing digital transformation in the province, Dr Akif said the KPITB moved decisively beyond pilots and policy frameworks to delivering end to end digital public service, enabling cashless, paperless and identity driven governance, scaled youth skills, startups, IT infrastructure and earned global recognition for citizen centric digital innovation.

About the key measure taken for digitization of government affairs, KPITB chief said these included Transport Licensing system, introduction of virtual meeting of prisoners with their families, establishment of IT platform for job seekers, universal number plate system, motor vehicle registration system, housing scheme for government employees, Ramzan relief package, AI-powered Crop disease detection system, digitalization of Arms and Business License, Government GPT (an AI powered system to simply access official rules, regulations and policies.

He said the KPITB also facilitated the formation of Digital Payment and FinTech Strategy which has been approved by the provincial cabinet with the objective of advancing a broader vision of achieving a Cashless KP by 2030.

Dr Akif said the Agriculture Income Tax System has been introduced to digitalize the assessment and collection of agriculture income tax in KP by replacing manual processes with a centralized digital workflow.

He said a MoU was signed between the KPITB and Police Department to digitize major police services, including character certificate, registration of foreigners, tenants, domestic workers, real time traffic update, missing persons reporting and recruitment information.

E-Muhasil was developed as a digital platform to modernize field level revenue collection and enforcement activities. He said an Anti-Corruption Complaint Management System was developed to digitize and streamline the receipt processing and tracking of complaints across the organization.

“KPITB signed a MoU with Transport Department to advance the digital transformation of key transport services such as driving licence issuance and route permit management were set to be integrated into the Dastak platform”, he pointed

To attain better public health standards, Immunization Monitoring Performance and Coverage Tracker, a real-time digital system was implemented to monitor immunization activities across the province.

The platform enables field data collection with geolocation tracking and centralized dashboards, improving coverage, monitoring performance oversight and immunization outcomes.He said Ombudsman KP, powered by KPITB, is offering a 24/7 e-complaint portal for citizens to register grievances easily online.

Similarly, the E-Abyana system modernizes the traditional manual water billing process by digitizing farmer and land records. The KPITB chief said a PakSaaf App was developed to enable real time tracking and monitoring of solid waste collection operations. The system operates through a mobile application and web portal. To tackle climate induced disaster, a Flood Early Warning Monitoring System was developed to strengthen flood preparedness and risk management across KP.
