KARACHI: The National Bank of Pakistan received recognition at the Asia Pacific Shelter Settlements Forum Pakistan 2026, held in Karachi, for its participation in post-flood housing reconstruction initiatives.
Mahmood Akhtar Nadeem, executive vice president and general manager for Karachi, and Muhammad Ayyub, executive vice president and divisional head of housing finance in the retail banking group, accepted the award on behalf of NBP President Rehmat Ali Hasnie. The award was presented by Chief Minister of Sindh Murad Ali Shah.
The forum was organised by Sindh Peoples Housing for Flood Affectees to advance housing reconstruction efforts following the 2022 floods, in collaboration with multilateral partners including the World Bank, Asian Development Bank and Islamic Development Bank.
NBP displayed its retail banking and housing finance products at the event through an on-site kiosk, engaging with policymakers, development partners and private sector stakeholders.
According to organisers, the forum drew more than 160 international delegates, 40 government representatives from Asia-Pacific countries and around 400 national participants from academia, media, government and the private sector.
