Islamabad:Allottees of the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) housing scheme Green Enclave-1 staged a protest on Monday at the inauguration site in Sector F-14, where Federal Minister for Housing and Works Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the development of Sectors F-14 and F-15.

The demonstrators were holding placards, banners and were demanding immediate commencement of development work in Green Enclave-1, a long-delayed project of the FGEHA. After the intervention of local Members of the National Assembly from Islamabad, the protesting allottees joined the ceremony.

Despite the inauguration of new sectors, the protestors expressed frustration over the inordinate delays in older housing schemes launched by FGEHA. Several apartment projects and two housing schemes in Bhara Kahu, including Green Enclave-1 have been facing prolonged delays.

Tahir Mahmood, an allottee of Green Enclave-1, said that most of the allottees were retired government servants who had registered with FGEHA in 2009 and were allotted plots in 2016, but even after 17 years, possession has not been handed over to the allottees.
