The city narrowly escaped a major catastrophe after four militants were killed in a fierce exchange of fire during a raid conducted by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in Shah Latif Town.

According to DIG CTD Azfar Mahesar and SSP CTD Irfan Bahadur, the operation was carried out on the identification of already arrested militants. During the raid, suspects inside a house opened fire, leading to an intense gun battle.

Officials said four militants were wounded in the exchange and later succumbed to their injuries. Three were identified as Jalil alias Fareed, Niaz alias King, and Hamdan alias Fareed, while efforts were underway to ascertain the identity of the fourth militant.

The CTD officials claimed the militants were killed by gunfire from their own accomplices during the crossfire. Two CTD personnel Head Constable Muhammad Yousuf and Constable Raja Junaid were also injured and were receiving medical treatment. Meanwhile, a search operation was ongoing and snap-checking had been intensified across Malir district and other parts of the city to apprehend fleeing suspects.
