PERA force official arrested for selling drugs

LAHORE : A member of a PERA force constituted to assist in anti-encroachment operations was arrested for allegedly selling narcotics.

The suspect, identified as Mujtaba Haider, was arrested by Shahdara Town police from Kala Khatai Road. According to officials, 140g ice (crystal meth) and 40g opium were recovered from his possession.

A case was registered against him on the complaint of SI Imran.

Rickshaw driver held for harassing woman

A rickshaw driver accused of harassing a woman was arrested. According to a spokesperson for Safe City, the complaint was received via Public Safety App, where the victim reported the incident. A Safe City team used advanced cameras to trace the rickshaw within just 30 minutes. The suspect was identified and apprehended. A case was registered against him.

16,881 POs arrested this year across province

A total of 16,881 proclaimed offenders have been arrested across the province, including Lahore, said a spokesperson for Punjab Police here Sunday.

The spokesperson further added that during the same period 2,543 habitual criminals were arrested, comprising 777 Category-A and 1,766 Category-B habitual offenders.

During the ongoing crackdown in the provincial capital Lahore, 3,057 proclaimed offenders, 2,104 court absconders, and 787 habitual criminals were arrested.

IG Punjab Abdul Kareem praised the performance of the police teams.
