LAHORE: The Lahore Race Club (LRC) delivered a day of high drama on Sunday, with favourites faltering and outsiders rising to the occasion across a 10-race card. The standout moment came in the Derby Trials Cup (Race 7, 2000m), where Jupiter, ridden by Awais Anjum, stunned the field to clinch victory, cementing his place as a serious contender for the upcoming Pakistan Derby.

The day’s marquee events saw a mix of expected triumphs and surprise outcomes. Present Queen reigned supreme in the JDW Invitational Cup (Race 5), while favourite Ronaq, guided by Awais Anjum, claimed the Pakistan Oaks Cup (Race 6). In the Ghazanivi Cup (Race 9), favourite Queen Of Pharoah (Abdullah Amir) lived up to her billing with a commanding win.

The Derby Trials Cup, however, stole the spotlight. Jupiter’s decisive run left Hall Road in second, while favourite One Man Band had to settle for third. Sardar Bey finished fourth, underscoring the unpredictability of the day.

The undercard produced several shocks outcomes as an unknown aspirant Altaf Star opened the day with a surprise win, while Singhar faltered and Fayyum managed third.

In Race 2, Dawood Prince justified his billing with victory, but Lucky Macs stunned with second place, and Babbar Sher took third.

Favourite Rafah (under Sardar Ali) delivered as expected in the third race, with Red Chilly second and outsider Pakiza third.
