DD/MM/YYYY?

This is about the Child Registration Certificate (CRC/B-Form). Currently, the date of birth on the CRC is printed only as numbers, without a clear format indicator (DD/MM/YYYY or MM/DD/YYYY). This lack of clarity often creates confusion between the day and the month.

The date of birth is a critical and permanent record. Any error made at the initial stage can lead to serious complications later in life, particularly in educational records, passports and other official documents. Correcting such mistakes is usually a lengthy and cumbersome process. It is therefore requested that the relevant authority clearly mention the date format, such as ‘DD/MM/YYYY’, above the date of birth column. Alternatively, printing ‘DD’, ‘MM’ and ‘YYYY’ above the respective figures would eliminate ambiguity. This minor but important improvement would greatly enhance accuracy and convenience for the public. One hopes the relevant authorities will take timely action to address this issue.
