PESHAWAR: The lawyers’ strike against the arrest and torture of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council member and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader (PTI) Ali Zaman advocate continued for the fourth day on Saturday.

On the call of the KP Bar Council and the Peshawar High Court (PHC) Bar Association, the lawyers boycotted court proceedings and they did not appear in the courts.

Peshawar High Court Bar (PHCBA) President Aminur Rehman advocate, general secretary Ashfaq Daudzai, District Bar president Qaiser Zaman, KP Bar Council members Shamsul Hadi, Tariq Afghan, Ishaq Ali Qazi, Zahidullah Zahid, Anwarul Haq, Yasir Khattak and others lawyers condemned the detention of Ali Zaman without reason and the alleged torture on him.

They said he was a responsible and senior lawyer and abducting a senior lawyer in such a manner was a serious threat to the legal community and the entire justice system.

They strongly condemned the incident and demanded that those involved be arrested and punished, saying that picking up someone without

crime and subjecting him

to torture was an injustice and oppressors must

be punished.
