Electricity loadshedding started in the late 90s due to widespread power theft and line losses and inefficiency and corruption in power distribution departments and companies. All these factors still seem to be present. Fortunately, solar technology came to the rescue of the consumers. However, many of these same problems are prevalent in the gas sector too and, in this field, there does not seem to be any saviour.

Gas loadshedding is an almost universal problem in Sindh and in my home town of Johi, low pressure Gas is made available for only 3 hours a day (one hour in the morning, one hour at noon and one hour in the evening). But even this schedule is not always followed. This extremely poor service and anti-consumer behaviour is causing depressing inconvenience to consumers. People are rapidly reverting to gas theft due low pressure and non-availability of gas despite expensive bills. The concerned authorities are requested to take notice of this grim state of affairs.
