KARACHI: The Maritime Security Exercise Sea Guard-26 ended here on Tuesday with a debrief session.
This third edition of the exercise showcased defending ports and harbours, protecting ships and maritime facilities, fighting drug trafficking at sea, and carrying out search and rescue operations.
Chief guest Vice Admiral Raja Rab Nawaz, chief of staff, appreciated the effective conduct of the exercise and praised the role of the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre (JMICC) in synergizing the efforts of all maritime stakeholders. He emphasised the importance of sustained engagement and collaboration, while reaffirming the Pakistan Navy’s proactive commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s maritime interests.
The debrief was attended among others by representatives of the participating organizations. They presented an analytical review of the conduct of the exercise, encompassing various scenarios executed to validate information-sharing and response mechanisms among stakeholders against maritime sector contingencies.
The Exercise Sea Guard-26, brought together representatives from across Pakistan’s maritime sector, including government regulatory authorities, law enforcement agencies, private sector entities, and academia.
