ALPURI: The Shangla and adjoining northern mountain ranges received light snowfall while intermittent rain continued in various areas, bringing a renewed cold spell to the region on Tuesday.

The weather in Shangla and nearby mountainous areas has turned chilly once again. Light snowfall was reported in upper parts, while plains and low-lying areas experienced spells of steady rain. The rain and snowfall, which began between Monday and Tuesday night, led to a noticeable drop in temperature, starting to disrupt daily life.

Rain was reported at intervals in several parts of Shangla, including Alpuri, Puran, Chakesar, Bisham, Kana Shapur, Lilownai, Martung, Karora and surrounding localities.

Meanwhile, light snowfall continued in upper and hilly areas. Residents of upper areas faced difficulties due to the severe weather. In some places, snowfall has caused freezing conditions to return. People largely remained indoors, and activity in markets has also declined.

According to the Meteorological Department, the current spell of rain and light snowfall in Shangla and adjoining mountainous regions was expected to continue for the next two days.
