MANSEHRA: Upper parts of the Hazara division on Tuesday received snowfall, while low-lying urban areas were lashed by heavy rain, turning the weather chillier.
The snowfall, which began in the early hours of the day, continued intermittently throughout the day.
High-altitude areas of the division, including the Kaghan, Siran and Konsh valleys in Mansehra, as well as the Kandia and Spat valleys in Kohistan, received a fresh spell of snow.
Link roads in remote parts of Mansehra and other areas of the division, which were blocked during the heaviest snowfall in mid-January, could not be cleared, adding to the misery of local residents.
People in remote areas of Mansehra, Torghar, Upper Kohistan, Lower Kohistan and Kolai-Palas continue to face hardships as electricity, which was suspended due to the grounding of pylons and poles, has yet to be restored.
The Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad (MNJ) Road, which had been cleared up to Kaghan following last month’s snowfall by the National Highway Authority, was once again affected as landslides and fresh snowfall blocked it at several points.
The artery connecting the MNJ Road with the tourist resort of Shogran was also blocked due to fresh snowfall.
A Police Department spokesperson told reporters that visitors intending to travel to the high-altitude tourist resort of Shogran were stopped and not allowed to proceed during the snowfall, as the steep road connecting it with the MNJ Road becomes dangerous and slippery in such conditions.
