Two cops hurt in Bannu terrorist attacks

BANNU: Two cops were injured in separate terrorist attacks in the district and were shifted to the hospital for medical treatment, officials said on Sunday.The first incident occurred on Dera Ismail Khan Road, where a Mirakhel police party was transporting the body of a murder victim to the hospital when armed attackers opened fire, injuring a police constable named Azmat.

According to initial police reports, the assailants were six in number, riding three motorcycles and managed to escape after the attack.The second incident took place at a police check post in Khuniakhel where terrorists opened fire at close range. During the exchange of fire between police and the attackers, Constable Noor Muhammad sustained injuries. Police launched a counter-operation, though details about any casualties on the attackers’ side were not immediately available.
