ABBOTTABAD: The Pakistan National Women Lacrosse Team made their name in history by winning the silver medal at the Asian Lacrosse Games 2026, held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia marking Pakistan’s first-ever international appearance in the sport.
According to a statement by Engr. Taifoor Zarin on behalf of the Pakistan National Women Lacrosse Association, the Pakistan team delivered outstanding performance throughout the tournament, overcoming experienced Asian sides to secure second place.
Their achievement was widely praised as a testament to the players’ resilience, discipline, and fighting spirit despite limited resources. Pakistan’s forward Fiza Zahir emerged as the standout performer of the tournament, scoring a remarkable 24 goals, the highest by any player in the competition, and playing a decisive role in guiding the team to the final.
The medal-awarding ceremony was attended by Fahad, President of the Saudi Lacrosse Federation, who presented the medals to the Pakistan team in recognition of their exceptional performance.
The team’s success was credited to the dedicated efforts of Irfan Khan, team coach, and Syed Muhammad Ilyas Shah, team manager, whose planning and unwavering commitment proved instrumental in securing the historic medal.
