CHARSADDA: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) provincial Chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao on Saturday asked the government to pay heed to the welfare of the people from the downtrodden segments of the society.

Addressing a gathering in Sherpao village in connection with the upcoming death anniversary of Shaheed Hayat Mohammad Khan Sherpao, he said economic stability was linked to political stability of the country.

He added that the government should pay its attention to provide relief to the people who were faced with a host of issues, including price-hike, unemployment and worsening law and order. He said that security had deteriorated to the extent in the province where people could not come out of homes after sunset.

Sikandar Sherpao said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had been turned into a laboratory for political experiments. He said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government had been ruling Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the third straight term but it had miserably failed to come up to the expectations of the people.

He said that the poor were running from pillar to post to arrange a two-time meal for their children.

Coming down hard on the chief minister, he said that the PTI government was wasting public funds on political gathering and staging sit-ins for the release of their incarcerated leader.

He added that the provincial government had locked horns with the federation at the cost of KP’s rights. He said the chief minister was least bothered to take steps to mitigate the sufferings of the people of Tirah valley. “Though Sohail Afridi was elected from the Khyber trial district where Tirah was located in his constituency, he was least bothered to provide relief to the affected people,” he lamented. He said the province had plunged into economic degradation due to the flawed policies and incompetence of the PTI rulers.

He added that economic stability was linked to political stability, therefore, the country could not afford to face confrontation among political rivals for the sake of vested interests.
