PESHAWAR: The Peshawar University Teachers’ Association (PUTA) has announced a protest movement against the University of Peshawar administration over its failure to convene the Selection Board meeting for faculty members at the earliest.
The decision was taken during a meeting of PUTA’s Executive Body held on Friday. The participants of the meeting declared to launch a protest movement if the Selection Board meeting was not convened by February 3, 2026.
According to PUTA, despite repeated reminders and formal communications, the university administration has failed to hold the meeting, while the vice-chancellor has shown no clear intention to convene it in the near future. The forum expressed serious concern and strong dissatisfaction over the unjustified and prolonged delay.
PUTA leaders stated that the continued postponement has caused grave injustice to the teaching community. They stressed that promotions of faculty members have been adversely affected due to the non-holding of the Selection Board meeting.
In view of the situation, PUTA unanimously decided to initiate a strong protest movement in line with the General Body resolution. The protest will include a boycott of academic and administrative activities. To formally announce the protest, PUTA will hold a press conference on February 4, 2026.
