President Zardari, UAE leadership reaffirm fortifying ties

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Ruler of Dubai, on Wednesday reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen the brotherly relations between Pakistan and the UAE and expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory of bilateral ties.

President Zardari met Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid at the Zabeel Palace in Dubai, where the two leaders discussed ways to further expand bilateral relations, with particular stress on economic, trade and investment cooperation.

President Zardari lauded Dubai’s remarkable transformation into a global hub for tourism, finance and emerging technologies. The president explored opportunities for enhanced cooperation with the UAE in infrastructure development, logistics, food security and technology-driven sectors. He also extended an invitation to Sheikh Mohammed to visit Pakistan.

The meeting was attended by First Lady Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE. Separately, President Asif Zardari met Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DP World, in Dubai. The meeting reviewed the evolving Pakistan-DP World partnership, noting that recent inter-governmental agreements reflect strong commitment on both sides. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem reaffirmed that the UAE would continue to work closely with Pakistan, drawing on decades of a trusted and enduring relationship.
