PESHAWAR: The pre-promotion statutory training for additional district and sessions judges continued on Friday at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy.

The judges were equipped with practical tools to refine written expression, ensuring that judicial orders and judgments were not only legally sound but also clear, concise, and professionally articulated.

The focus was on an interactive series of sessions on written communication skills, aimed at enhancing the clarity, coherence, and effectiveness of judicial writing.Assistant Professor Dr Sabeen Hayat of IMSciences, Peshawar, delivered a session on written communication skills at the macro level.

She guided the participants on structuring judgments and orders, organizing ideas logically, framing issues and arguments, and developing coherence across paragraphs, emphasizing that sound reasoning and clear structure are the backbone of persuasive and well-founded judicial decisions.

In the second session on the same topic, the focus shifted to mid-level aspects of writing, including sentence clarity, precision, grammar, and syntax.The resource person highlighted the importance of careful editing to improve coherence and impact, and demonstrated how minor linguistic improvements can significantly enhance the quality and authority of judicial documents.

The final session on the topic addressed micro-level skills such as sentence craft, tone, and style.Special emphasis was placed on maintaining judicial decorum, choosing precise words, avoiding verbosity and bias, and writing with neutrality and balance.The session concluded with practical writing exercises and peer review, enabling participants to reflect on their own writing and learn from each other’s feedback.
