ISLAMABAD: Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majuka recorded the statements of the victim’s mother and an aunt in the murder case of renowned TikToker Sana Yousuf.
The court also summoned officials of the National Cyber-Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) after the defence counsel reported receiving threats and adjourned the hearing until January 27.
Accused Umar Hayat was present in the court. During the initial hearing, no lawyer for the accused was present, prompting the judge to ask, “Where is your lawyer?” After the recess, defence lawyer Chaudhry Rizwan Elahi appeared and informed the court that he was being continuously threatened for representing the accused in the case. He stated that he was receiving threats through video calls and messages, with the callers claiming links with Afghanistan. He said he was being pressured to withdraw from the case and that threats intensified after he approached the high court.
Expressing strong displeasure, the court directed Sana Yousuf’s lawyers to refrain from making unnecessary videos and statements on social media about the pending case.
Subsequently, Farzana Yousuf, mother of the deceased, recorded her statement before the court. She stated her sister-in-law Bibi Latifan Shah was staying at the house as a guest. She said that at around 5pm on June 2, a man wearing a black shirt and blue trousers entered the house, witnessed by herself and Latifan Shah. The accused fired two shots at Sana Yousuf’s chest and fled downstairs with a pistol and Sana Yousuf’s mobile phone. She added that on June 13, 2025, she and Latifan Shah visited Adiala Jail for an identification parade, where they identified Umar Hayat. Later, Sana Yousuf’s maternal aunt, Bibi Latifan Shah, also recorded her statement before the court. She also confirmed identifying accused Umar Hayat during the identification parade.
