Soft power era

Over the past decade, the US has slowly erased its global credibility by sabotaging its own soft power. Hasty and unmanageable withdrawals from multilateral organisations and treaties, along with the intimidation of ostensible partners showcases a transactional mindset that separates countries rather than binding them together. Continual attacks on international institutions like the UN and WHO, combined with trade turmoil, technological restrictions and incessant military interventions have destroyed America’s ethical and diplomatic credibility and respect worldwide.

In contrast, China has slowly enhanced its impacts through consistent diplomacy, infrastructure projects like the Belt and Road Initiative and economic partnerships with developing nations. Beijing’s approach defines attraction, economic collaboration and long-term partnerships, allowing it to gain allies even as the US retreats from multilateralism. Soft power, not just hard power, is quickly moulding the 21st-century geopolitical arena.
