ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will meet US President Donald Trump this week in Swiss tourist resort Davos where the two leaders will be present to attend the 56th World Economic Forum (WEF).

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is leaving for Zurich tomorrow (Monday) along with a large delegation, including five federal ministers.

It is likely that COAS and CDF Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir would also join the entourage.

The sources told The News here on Saturday evening that the meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Trump will be significant in the backdrop of developments on the international horizon and it would take place on the margins of WEF.

The US president is arriving on Tuesday with a big delegation. Shehbaz-Trump meeting’s schedule would be announced immediately after the arrival of the later, the sources said.

Sources pointed out that António Guterres, UN Secretary-General, Mark Carney, Prime Minister of Canada, Friedrich Merz, Federal Chancellor of Germany, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, He Lifeng, Chinese Vice-Premier, Javier Milei, President of Argentina, Prabowo Subianto, President of Indonesia, Pedro Sánchez, Prime Minister of Spain, Guy Parmelin, President of the Swiss Confederation 2026, Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Bart De Wever, Prime Minister of Belgium, Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar and Volodymyr Zelenskyy and President of Ukraine are also attending the forum.

The sources hinted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and members of his team would have several meetings with important personalities besides attending seminars and conferences during their three-day stay in the city.

The prime minister will have an overnight stay in London while returning where he would have some private engagements.
