A suspected robber was killed in a police encounter near Allah Razi Biryani in the Korangi neighbourhood on Friday. The body of the deceased suspect was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), where he was later identified as Shehryar, 30, son of Shabbir Ahmed.
According to police, personnel from the Awami Colony police station were on routine patrol when they reached Korangi No 4 and spotted two suspects riding a motorcycle who were allegedly looting citizens. Upon seeing the police, the suspects opened fire on the police party. The police retaliated, resulting in the death of one suspect on the spot, while his accomplice managed to escape by firing in the air.
The police said a 30-bore pistol along with ammunition, Rs9,500 in cash, three mobile phones and three wallets were recovered from the possession of the deceased suspect. The criminal record of the killed suspect was being verified. Further investigation was underway.
