LAHORE:Jamaat-i-Islami Lahore Emir Ziauddin Ansari Advocate on Tuesday announced in a press conference at the Syed Modoodi Institute that all preparations for the public referendum on the Local Government Act have been completed.
This referendum will be held from tomorrow (Thursday) to Sunday throughout Punjab.Ziauddin Ansari Advocate stated the referendum is not limited to any single political party, but represents a struggle to safeguard the people’s right to govern and protect local democracy. He warned that the Punjab government aims to extend horse-trading from the Senate to local neighborhoods, but Jamaat will never accept this anti-people law and will continue its struggle until justice is ensured. He stated that the current LG Act is a blatant attack on citizens’ right to representation.
