Rescue 1122 capacity being enhanced, says minister

LAHORE:Minister for Health and Emergency Services Khawaja Salman Rafique has said the capacity of Rescue 1122 and Emergency Response is being further enhanced.

The minister said this while visiting the Rescue Headquarters here on Tuesday. He added that planning is being done for the future keeping in mind the challenges of the 2025 floods. Emergency response is being modernised and improved on the instructions of the CM. The Punjab government is striving to provide the best possible emergency services, the minister said. Secretary Emergency Services Dr Rizwan Naseer briefed the minister.

Meeting briefed on Nawaz Sharif cancer hospital

Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique has said work is going on day and night on the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research, adding directives have been issued for making the cancer hospital functional on time.

He was speaking at a meeting of the Board of Governors (BoG) of Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research held at the Department of Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education here on Tuesday.

The minister said the Punjab government is building a 915-bed state-of-the-art Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research in Lahore at a cost of Rs72 billion. Every work that improves the lives of the people is the top priority of the Punjab government, he added.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Department of Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Azmat Mahmood and others. A four-point agenda was presented and approved in the meeting. The progress and implementation report on the decisions of the 10th meeting was also reviewed in the meeting. A briefing was also taken on the procurement process of medicines in the meeting.
