PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Tuesday issued notices to the Interior Ministry, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and other concerned parties in a contempt of court petition filed against the inclusion of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Akbar Ayub in the Passport Control List (PCL) and Provisional National Identification List (PNIL).

The case was heard by PHC Chief Justice SM Attique Shah.Counsel for the petitioner Ali Azim Afridi informed the court that it had previously ordered the removal of his client’s name from the said lists. However, he said the court’s orders had not been implemented. He pleaded that on November 11, 2025, the court had directed that the petitioner’s name be removed from all relevant watch lists, but the authorities had failed to comply with the directives. The counsel argues that Akbar Ayub now intended to travel abroad for his son’s medical treatment, but was unable to do so due to the continued inclusion of his name in the lists.Chief Justice Attique Shah inquired whether the court had specified any timeframe for the removal of the petitioner’s name.
