ALPURI: The local government representatives from Shangla have announced a fresh protest in Peshawar against what they termed as denial of development funds, non-transfer of powers and continued marginalisation of elected councillors in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Chairmen, councillors and other local representatives from Shangla left for Peshawar to participate in the demonstration, ensuring representation of their respective village councils.

Talking to reporters before departure, the representatives said several years had passed since their election, yet they had neither been provided development funds nor granted the administrative powers that were promised.

They maintained that while they were elected through public mandate, it was impossible to resolve community issues without financial resources and authority. The representatives alleged that the provincial government had failed to implement these commitments in practice.
