PESHAWAR: A funeral in absentia was offered here on Monday for Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and others who were martyred in the joint United States (US) and Israeli attacks on Iran.
The funeral prayers were offered at Al-Markaz-e-Islami, the provincial headquarters of Jamaat-e-Islami, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.It was done to express solidarity with the people of Iran after the aggression carried out by Israel and the US.
The funeral prayer was led by Maulana Dr Muhammad Ismail, provincial deputy chief of Jamaat-e-Islami. A large number of party workers and supporters attended the funeral.After the funeral prayer, a protest rally was taken out from Markaz-e-Islami to Sardar Garhi BRT Stop on GT Road.
The rally was led by Jamaat-e-Islami KP (Central) Ameer Abdul Wasi, former provincial senior minister and Ameer JI KP (North) Inayatullah Khan, Provincial General Secretary Sabir Hussain Awan, and district president Bahrullah Khan.Participants of the rally chanted slogans against Israel and the US, condemning the attacks on Iran.
The demonstrators called upon the Government of Pakistan to raise its voice at international forums against the inhumane and shameful attacks and to extend diplomatic support to Iran.Addressing the gathering, party leaders criticized Israel’s role in the region, holding it responsible for large-scale violence over the past two and a half years, particularly in Occupied Gaza and Palestine.
They said that innocent civilians, including women and children, had been targeted in continuous bombardment. The speakers said that the latest attacks on Iran was a dangerous escalation in the region.
They added that the US President Donald Trump had extended full backing to Israel in its aggressive actions in the region.The speakers described Israel as a major destabilizing force in the Middle East and stressed that addressing the situation had become an urgent necessity for regional peace.
The party leaders urged the Pakistan Government to openly declare its support for Iran, warning that any attempt to destabilize Iran could have wider consequences for the region.They said that India and Israel were trying to weaken Iran with external support to advance broader strategic objectives, including actions detrimental to Pakistan’s interests.
