LAHORE : Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat said that honhaar scholarships and laptops will be given to the DVM students of the UVASthis year.
He made this announcement while addressing the annual lunch ceremony of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) 2026organised by the Faculty of Veterinary Science of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) here on Saturday.
MPA MsShagufta Faisal, UVAS Vice Chancellor Prof Dr M Younus and a number of faculty members, senior UVAS alumni, representatives from public and private sectors industries and students were also present in the DVM lunch.
Rana Sikandar said that it is urgently needed to work on livestock fattening, value addition and local breeds of cattle and buffaloes so that the production of meat and milk in the country can be significantly increased and along with this, the genetics of cattle and buffaloes can also be further improved.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr M Younus said that Rana Sikandar Hayat is a dynamic minister of Punjab who is playing an exemplary role in the development of the education sector. Emphasising the importance of entrepreneurship, he advised the students to start their own businesses in the future and play a key role in making the country prosperous and promoting veterinary education.
