PESHAWAR: The judge of the Special Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Saturday ordered the arrest and imprisonment of four guarantors for failing to produce the accused Azmat, who was granted bail in a case related to possession of explosives and weapons.
The case was heard by ATC Judge Wali Muhammad Khan.
At the start of the hearing, the accused Azmat failed to appear before the court.
According to the prosecution, Azmat was arrested on March 24, 2025, with explosives and weapons, and a case was registered against him at Counter-terrorism Department (CTD), Police Station Peshawar.
He was later released on bail by the court. However, after his release, he stopped appearing in court. His guarantors, including Aftab Gul, Muhammad Mustafa, Asif Khan and Faizan Ali, also failed to appear before the court.
All four guarantors are government employees, who had stood guarantee for the accused in a terrorism-related case.
The prosecution said that after the accused was released on bail, he stopped attending court proceedings. The court had earlier directed the guarantors to either produce the accused or submit bail bonds of Rs200,000 each, but they neither produced the accused nor deposited the required amount.
As a result, the court ordered the four guarantors to be taken into custody and sent to jail, directing that they would remain behind bars until they deposit Rs200,000 each.
